Introduction
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at AIIMS Rajkot was established in December 2021 with the goal of providing a comprehensive platform for modern healthcare to women. Our department aims to become a centre of excellence in clinical and research work, prioritizing areas that address health issues of women in the region.
Vision
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajkot strives to promote and safeguard women's health by providing comprehensive medical treatment and compassionate care, advancing medical knowledge through research and education by maintaining global standards in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Mission
- Respectful Maternity Care: To ensure respectful maternity care based on principles of ethics and respect for human rights in all services promoting practices that take cognizance of women’s choices.
- Patient-Catered Care: To offer the highest standard of medical treatment tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each woman, incorporating the latest advances in obstetrics and gynaecology, with empathy, respect, and confidentiality throughout the patient's journey.
- Education and Training:
- To impart comprehensive knowledge, foster clinical skills, and instil ethical values in students, equipping them to deliver excellent healthcare and contribute to the advancement of women's health.
- The department is actively involved in undergraduate (MBBS) teaching since its inception, laying the groundwork for skill-based learning through early clinical orientation and exposure.
- Research and Innovation: To promote research work in order to enhance the understanding and treatment of women's health conditions, identify new therapies, develop innovative techniques, and improve the overall quality of care for women.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: To seek collaborations and partnerships with other institutions, organizations, and healthcare providers to promote interdisciplinary and multistakeholder research and knowledge exchange.
- Community Outreach Initiatives: To empower women and raise community awareness about women's health issues through educational programs, interactive social activities and proper communication.

- Commencement of Antenatal and Gynaecology OPD services from 31/12/2021
- Preventive oncology and cancer screening offered from 26/02/2022
- First Social Outreach Programme organised on 10/03/2023
Facilities available
- Outpatient services
- The Obstetrics & Gynaecology OPD is located on the ground floor of the OPD building and caters services to outdoor patients from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am.
- Telemedicine through the e-Sanjeevani platform provides online consultation from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.
- The department is also providing remote clinical assistance to Health and Wellness clinics of the Saurashtra region.

Future Expansion
The department plans to establish
- Emergency services (24x7) with a fully equipped Labour & Delivery complex to deliver modern obstetric care and develop state-of-the-art Obstetric Surgery Complex, Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit.
- Facility for all major and minor gynaecological surgical procedures through open and minimally invasive techniques including robotics.
